How much do the classes cost ?
The cost of classes is $325.00 (effective January 1, 2007) A down payment of at least $100.00 must be made before the first class. You may also pay in full with cash, check, or money order. All balances must be paid before any drive times are scheduled.
What do the fees get me ?
Our fee includes the full 32 hours of instruction and the printing of the certificate of completion needed by any teen under the age of 18 to get their license from the BMV.
How much classroom instruction do I need and when can I complete it ?
Classroom instruction is a minimum of 24 hours. In classroom instruction may be completed by any teen at least 15 and 5 months of age.
How much behind the wheel instruction do I need and when can I complete it ?
Behind the wheel instruction (drive time) consists of 4 two hour sessions, after classroom training is completed. No drive times can be scheduled before payment is made in full
What if I miss a class ?
You must attend all classes. If you miss a class, you will need to make up that day's class. Example: if you miss the second class, you must wait until day 2 class is offered again so that you will get the material covered. You must contact the office to make the special arrangements to make up any classes missed.
Can I take the final test if I've missed a class ?
The final test may not be taken until all classes are completed. ( 75% passing grade - state requirement )
When are classes ?
Classes begin every monday and run for two weeks, Monday through Thursday 6 PM to 9:15 PM ( Total of 24 hrs. )
Can I just show up for classes or do I need to register ?
Seating is limited, please call in to reserve a seat in class. You can stop in the office prior to the class start date to complete the paperwork and pay fees. If you are unable to register at the office prior to the class start date, please come 20 - 25 minutes early on the start date of the class. A parent of guardian has to cmplete the required paperwork.
Will there be plenty of seating ?
Upon registration a seat in class is reserved for you, please be sure to come to your scheduled classes and be 5 minutes early. If unable to attend, please call the office.
What happens if I lose my certificate ?
Be careful not to lose your certificate. If you lose the certificate, you will have to return a notarized form (available from our office) and a reprint fee will apply.
Is there a cancellation fee if I cannot attend a behind-the-wheel time ?
Please be on time for your Behind-The-Wheel times: A cancellation fee may apply. We are paying an instructor to be here for the scheduled times so please be ready on time, with permit and proper attire. Wear appropriate shoes (no flip-flops) and arrive 5 - 10 minutes early.
Students can begin taking driver's education classes at age 15 years and 5 months. A learner's permit is not required in order to attend the classroom portion of training but is required for the 8 hours of driving with an instructor.
Students can obtain their learner's permit at age 15 years and 6 months. Learner's permits are obtained at a branch of the Ohio BMV. An exam must be taken and a passing grade must be obtained to validate the learner's permit. A picture I.D. must also be purchased at this time.
After successfully completing the written exam, students can begin driving with their licensed parents or legal guardians. Students that have not reached their 16th birthday can drive only with a licensed parent of legal guardian. When they reach 16 years of age, they can drive with a licensed driver over the age of 21. The student must have the I.D. card and the permit paper in their possession while driving. Not having one of the other makes the process invalid.
The permit is valid for one year. If it expires, the written exam must be repeated and a new I.D. may need to be purchased.
Students are required to drive 50 hours with their parents of legal guardians. 10 of those hours are to be driven at night. A voucher must be signed and notarized stating that this portion of the license process has been completed. A student cannot take the driving test without this.
Class starts promptly on time. Class time is a total of 8 hours of actual instruction time (breaks not included). All registrants should plan on arriving by 7:35 am to sign paperwork and be seated in the classroom. You will be expected to sign in before class begins and sign out at class completion.
No one will be admitted into class after the start time. The door closes at 1 minute before class begins. No one can arrive late or leave early and still receive credit for the course.
The cost of this course is $100 payable in cash or money order only.
Please bring picture I.D. issued within the last year and Court/BMV documents in your possession to the class.
There is a test at the end of the day. You will be expected to pass according to state guidelines to receive your certificate. (All neccesary information will be covered in class)
In-class participation is a significant part of the program. There will be lectures, videos, and interaction. Those that do not participate may not receive their certificate.
Registrants are expected to act in a mature manor. Disruptive students will be asked to leave the class without a refund.
Please dress comfortably and appropriately for the classroom situation. Ignoring this request will result in being asked to leave the class with no refund.
Respect the school property. Any theft or damage will result in monetary/criminal charges.
the course maybe be taken one every three years and not more than 5 total times for BMV purposes.
